KeySafe – never hide a key outside, instead use a KeySafe. The key Safe lock is a strong sturdy metal lockable box that can be easily mounted externally to your home with your house spare keys inside. It comes with a combination lock that you can set your own code into. It allows anyone you know and trust to have access to your home should that become necessary and is useful in case of emergency.

Fire Safety

  • Dead latches are preferable in case of a house fire.
  • Consider having your locks keyed alike.
  • If you have dead locks, always leave the key in the lock while you’re at home.

Smoke Alarms

  • Smoke alarms are compulsory in ALL homes
  • Test alarms every month
  • Clean alarms every 6 months
  • Change batteries every year.

Personal Response Systems (PRS)
A Personal Response System is an electronic device that allows you to summon help in an emergency, by pressing a button on a neck pendant or wrist band. There may be a cost to securing one of these, so check with your local HACC Service or CACP provider.

Australian Red Cross   -  Telecross
 Telecross is a service available 7 days per week, every day of the year. If you have a disability, are housebound, are a carer, are frail, aged, socially isolated, recovering from an illness or live alone phone to register for this service. A Telecross volunteer will call you at the same time every day to ensure that you are safe and well. If you don’t answer, an agreed emergency procedure will be activated and help arranged if necessary.
