INDIGENOUS SERVICES –KARPANDI

ELDER PROGRAM
Operating from the Karpandi building, this program provides services to Indigenous Elders ranging from transport, advocacy, counseling support, social activities and support.

INDIGENOUS CHILDRENS’ PROGRAM
The Indigenous Children’s Program provides services to indigenous families specifically geared to their children. Services include playgroup, school holiday program and outreach services.

DRUG & ALCOHOL PROGRAM
The drug and alcohol program operates from West Care and targets Indigenous men. Services provided include assessments, counseling support, accommodation support, advocacy, referral support, group work and individual support.

CULTURAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Cultural development activities provide a range of services to Indigenous people that engage and introduce elements of culture, community relationships, support issues of identity, awareness of cultural issues, provide cultural camps, Indigenous dance and craft.

ARTS DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM
Arts programs provide various activities that have an Indigenous flavour and engage people to look at their own art creativity and produce work from their own experience and heritage. There is opportunity for people involved in the program to share the work that is produced, within the Aboriginal community and at various functions and events.

FAMILY VIOLENCE PROGRAM
The Family Violence Program works with a group of young Indigenous women and operates out of Karpandi. It is a short term program that concentrates on engaging young women and focuses specifically on family violence intervention.

EXCEPTIONAL NEEDS PROGRAM
This program focuses on working with indigenous clients who have intensive and complex issues –these are referred to Westcare.

PROJECTS & PROGRAMS
These are coordinated short term projects that are community partnership funded and engage young people and communities in working together to achieve positive outcomes in areas such as education, youth justice, mentoring, community outreach and health and wellbeing.
