ABORIGINAL AGED CARE FACILITIES

These facilities are funded by Australian Government Department of Health Care and Ageing and are classified as flexible services.

ABORIGINAL ELDERS VILLAGE

Aboriginal Elders Village is located at Davoren Park in the northern metropolitan region of Adelaide. We provide care and support to frail older Aboriginal people and also offer short term respite care for people living independently in the community whose carers may need a break. Every resident has a private room equipped with ensuite bathrooms and built in robes. Residents receive support for podiatry, physiotherapy and individual therapy programs. Residents also have access to a range of social well being and recreational activities. This is an Aboriginal specific home with a vision to provide culturally appropriate and flexible care for Elders.

SEAVIEW VILLAGE –THEVENARD       

Seaview Village is an aged care facility at Thevanard. It is a flexible hostel, not a nursing home and provides care services through to older Aboriginal people from the Ceduna, Koonibba, Yalata and Oak Valley regions. It will also cater for non-Aboriginal spouses who need some form of care.

WAMI KATA
 
 Wami Kata is an Aboriginal specific service situated in Davenport Community Port Augusta.
It is a flexible aged care facility for older Aboriginal people in Port Augusta and surrounding towns including from the Pitjantjatjara Lands.

UMOONA AGED CARE FACILITY
(Tjilpi Tjuta Kanyini)

This aged care facility is situated on the site of the Coober Pedy Hospital, close to the Umoona Aboriginal Community.
It provides flexible care to local Aboriginal people and to people from the Pitjantjatjara Lands. It has a bush camp 12 kilometres from Umoona for summer camping.

REGENCY GREEN MUTICULTURAL AGED CARE
Uniting Care Wesley
An ACAT assessment through Community Aged Care packages is required for admission to the Aboriginal section of this facility. A waiting list is kept and admission is on the basis of need and suitability to the available room.
Regency Green has a multicultural focus and priority access is given to residents with Spanish, Maltese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Filipina, Cambodian and Aboriginal backgrounds.
Residents may be required to pay an accommodation fee depending on assets and assessed level of care.
It is necessary for you to complete a “Statement of Assets” from when applying for admission. As there is usually a number of people waiting for a bed it is important that when you are offered a bed, that a decision will be required quickly. It is a good idea to visit the facility prior to putting your name on the waiting list.
